Welcome to the free selection of M.E.L scripts for Maya. All scripts are constructed on Mac platform but have been tested working on PC. Please consider that some parameters may need to be adjusted to improve GUI sizes on PC.

Feather Light Faller

This tool allows the user to generate falling particles with control over height, speed, banking, spin and much more. The tool actually places expressions on the objects in question. To use, place the objects where you wish them to end up, then apply the settings. This can be done to many multiple objects at the same time.

Heads Up (vertex colour and normal angle tweaker)

Places a heads up GUI in the maya viewport to help with tweaking the baked vertex colors on objects. It also can be used to change the hard/ soft normal angles on edges.

Water Effects

Turns any object into a water surface. Works best when objects are in a realistic scale. The complexity of the object will be dependent on the subdivision before the effects are applied. The tool can quickly attach a water texture and simulate a fake (and fast rendering) light refraction and reflections caustics.

MBclipboard

MBclipboard allows the user to hold 5 pieces of geometry in a cache. This cache will remain present even if your computer restarts. It is then possible to reference, open or import these cached slots. These cached slots can be filled with either shaded or bare wireframe alternatives. This tool will function on a PC or Linux, but will need the path syntaxing to be changed as it is different on Mac and PC.

Tear UV’s

This tool allows the user to select faces, run the tool the be left with the relevant selection of uv’s ready to be moved. It makes editing the uv’s a much much simpler process.

Detach and Separate

This will detach an separate the selected faces and leave the user with a convenient selection. This is the tool that is required for a faster working process in maya.

Surface Placer

Use this to place hundreds of objects on any given surface. It is possible to control the growth via the use of a colour map and constrain objects to camera’s. It is possible to place random dimensions to rotation and scale.

Render Timer

This tool allows the user to predict the length of time a large batch render will take to complete. It will consider the different frames within the duration of the batch render and predict the total amount of time it will take to render. It will do this by rendering certain frames within the frame duration. The accuracy vs time to calculate can be altered.
